Just minutes from Krakow's magnificent centerpiece-Europe's largest town square- the medieval 13th century square. We are conveniently located in the historic center of Krakow, just a 5 minute walk from both the main train station and the bus depot.

MINUTES FROM BLING-BLING:

Main Market Square: One of the largest town squares in all of Europe still true to its 1257 original design; it remains square. But don't let its shape fool you, this square is the hub of Krakow's life and culture surrounded by a sea of outdoor cafes, pubs and clubs.

Sukiennice Cloth Hall: In the center of the main square, it was built in the 14th century and is still in use. At ground level, walk through its vibrant market selling a wide variety of ethnic crafts and souvenirs. Above the bustle walk the halls of a classic art gallery.

Florian Gate: The only remaining city gate, it was built in the 14th century to withstand violent assault by burly sword wielding bruts. Today, it and the adjoining walls double as a local open-air gallery of peace.

Barbakan: This prime example of medieval fortification looks innocent enough, but fill it with arrow shooting, rock hurling bruts and things could get ugly.

Stary Kleparz open air market: This square is the traditional meeting point of buyers and sellers where you can buy everything from fresh produce to traditional crafts. This bustling market is a great place to buy some cheap healthy eats or just browse and take in the atmosphere.

St. Adalbert's Church: Oldest church in town dating back to the 10th century whose basement features an exhibition of archeological finds from around the square.

St. Mary's Church: a breathtaking architectural achievement this 13th century church effortlessly blends various artistic styles from Gothic to Baroque to Art Nouveau. The medieval interior is alive to colorful paintings and exquisite woodcarvings-but all eyes are immediately drawn to the high altar. This elaborate altar is delicately carved and a masterpiece of Polish gothic art.

Czartoryski Museum: houses a famous collection of old European paintings, mainly Italian, Dutch and Flemish including da Vinci and Rembrandt.

Krakow's National Musuem: Gallery of 19th century Polish Painting.

Universitet Jagielonski: founded in 1367 its one of the oldest universities in Europe. The 15th century Collegium Maius is a gorgeous example of gothic architecture and inside is housed the university's collection of rare 16th century scientific tools as well as the world's oldest globe (1510).

10 MINUTES:

Wawel Castle: the seat of the Polish kings for over half a millennium, this imposing castle is majestically perched between the Vistula River and the old town. Although the original residence was built in the early 11th century, the current castle is Renaissance style built in 1499. A visit to the castle is not complete without exploring the infamous royal crypts and crown armory.

15 MINUTES:

Kazimierz: the old Jewish quarter, this section of town boasts a fascinating blend of past and present. The streets are filled with reminders of the past along with an eclectic mix of trendy cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops.

DAYTRIPS:

Wieliczka Salt Mine: this UNESCO world heritage site has been operating for the past 700 years. The mine is an extensive collection of tunnels and artistic carvings in salt done by miners over the years. But the highlight of any visit to this historic mine is the Chapel of Blessed Kinga- ornate carvings adorn this chapel that is over 300m underground and made entirely of salt!

Auschwitz-Birkenau: this chilling landmark is 60km outside of Krakow and makes for an easy daytrip. Both camps are open to the public. The visitor center offers an on-site museum as well as guided tours.

Ojcow National Park: excellent hiking trails leading you past picturesque castles and impressive rock formations. This woodland teaming with a wide variety of plant and animal life offers a quiet sanctuary from the vibrant city.

Dunajec River Gorge: Rafting is a popular activity in the summer months on the Dunajec river that winds along dramatic cliffs and deciduous forests to a spectacular gorge.
