LEOPOLIS. Here you have a chance to discover the Western gateway of Ukraine, that is situated on the crossroads from East to West and from North to South.

Lviv is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe and the world. Magnificent architectural monuments reflect the multinational character of the city. It was caused by the great importance of medieval Lviv in the international trade of those times. Besides the indigenous Ukrainian people the city was populated also with Armenians, Germans, Polish, Jews, Italians etc.

Precious historic and architectural monuments of Lviv represent a great diversity of styles from the time of its foundation till nowadays and give the city the status of a unique museum of world culture. In 1998 the historic center of Lviv city was hadded to the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

Most of this architectural monuments are within walking distance of the Hotel Leopolis.
Six centuries of Lviv history are closely connected with Rynok Square. The central structure of the Square is the Town Hall surrounded by 44 buildings of different ages and architectural styles.

An impressive monument of Lviv is the Latin Cathedral, built Gothic and Baroque styles. There are eight chapels in the church and each of them is unique. One of the most valuable Renaissance monuments is Kampians Chapel. Nearby is Boims Chapel built in the late Renaissance which and is the only such presumed monument not only in Lviv, but even in Europe.

The adornment of the central part of Lviv is the Church Corpus Christi Dominicans. The present-look building was constructed at the expense of Hetman Potosky. The church was build in an eliptical form that is unusual for sacred constructions decorated with magnificent sculptures.

Ensemble of the Assumption of the Virgin Church includes monumental Korniakt's tower-bell, the Chapel of Three Saints and the church. It is hard to find another ensemble, where all three buildings, different in size, would create such fundamental unity.
One more sacred structure situated in Teatralna street just opposite the Hotel Leopolis is Roman Catholic Church Jesuits. The church includes the Jesuit collegium where Hetman Bohdan Hmelnytskiy was studying. The best-known building in Lviv is the Opera House, built in 1900, the miraculous building of the Renaissance and Baroque styles is one of the finest in Europe.
