Like other historic wine merchants* estates on Madeira, Casa Branca hides its floral treasures behind high walls. Though close to the centre of the capital, Funchal, it is completely cocooned from the bustle. The ultra-modern Casa Branca is truly a *'garden* hotel - every room has a glass wall opening directly onto the beautiful grounds. The wood-lined interior seems part of the very garden too.
